1. Natural Agricultural Variations
- Popped Seed Characteristics: Foxnuts (Makhana / Euryale ferox) are naturally harvested, sun-dried, and roasted wetland crops. Because they are natural produce, inherent variations in size, sphericity, texture, and natural off-white pigmentation are standard across batches.
- Seed Coat & Husk Remnants: Occasionally, small traces of the naturally occurring hard black/brown outer seed coat (shell husk) may adhere to the popped seed. This is an intrinsic characteristic of raw, traditionally popped makhana and is not considered a defect, adulterant, or foreign matter.
2. Moisture Absorption & Storage Advisory
- Hygroscopic Nature: Makhana naturally absorbs environmental moisture rapidly. Exposure to ambient air, humid weather, or unsealed storage will result in a loss of crispness.
- Storage Requirement: Once the heat-sealed packaging is opened, store the contents immediately in a clean, airtight container in a cool, dry place. Bihar Makhana Export is not liable for sogginess, rancidity, or pest issues resulting from exposure after delivery. If crispness diminishes due to temporary room exposure, gently dry-roast on low heat for 2 to 3 minutes to restore natural crunch.
3. Allergen Advisory
- Makhana is naturally gluten-free and plant-based.
- While our facility adheres strictly to food safety and hygiene protocols mandated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), individuals with known botanical hypersensitivities or seed/nut allergies should review product suitability before consumption.
